Continuing the Folding Boat theme, this is a sculptural installation project that promotes sustainability and the sea, by transforming a 30ft fishing boat into a blue whale, representing what we put into and take out of the sea. (To follow this project #thefoldingwhale)
"Rosie" started out as part of the Hastings beach fishing fleet, she was found in a state of disrepair in a garden in Sussex, deconstructed and disassembled by hand, transported to Wayford boatyard in Norfolk, where she was painstakingly created into an artistic impression of a Blue Whale.
Representing 2 stages of decay, she was exhibited as a beached whale at Southwold Harbour Norfolk, and as a sub-skeletal structure at Waveney Valley Sculpture Trail, Raveningham.
This project will evolve further to show the whales full skeletal form....
